What are the benefits?

There can be many benefits of IV Vitamin infusions including immune boosting, improved mental clarity, minimizing anxiety, optimizing defence against viruses, body and mind fine-tuning, clearer and smoother skin (by supporting production of collagen), age management, burning fat, recovering from jet lag, and getting rid of a hangover after a big night.

Are there any risks?

The infusion is administered slowly through a cannula which is inserted into a vein in your arm. As with any medical procedure there can be some risks. The most common risk can be an infection, bruise or redness where the IV cannula is inserted.

How much will it cost?

Please visit the fees section of our website for specific pricing for each type of infusion. At Shire Doctors and Dentists we are more than happy to tailor the infusion to meet your individual requirements. Please contact us directly to specify your unique requirements.

How to prepare for your Infusion

Your doctor will provide you with an external prescription and specific instructions prior to commencing osteoporosis/vitamin/iron infusion and advise on if any medications need to be ceased. Please ensure you bring the prescription and recent pathology results with you to the consultation.

Please take your regular medications, eat your breakfast, or lunch, and keep well hydrated prior to the infusion. You can do this by drinking 2 glasses of water prior to coming into our clinic. Wear comfortable clothes, have a drink bottle available and you can choose to lie on the treatment bed or remain in a chair.

Please talk to your doctor about the procedure first if you feel nervous about the infusion. Your doctor can recommend ways to help you stay comfortable and relaxed during the procedure.

Vitamin Infusion Clinic

It is not easy to get all the essential nutrients our bodies require, with only about ten percent of the nutrients from food and oral vitamin supplements being absorbed. This is due to the absorption process within the intestines and digestive system. IV vitamin therapy is a popular treatment for many people to replenish the body’s nutritional status. When vitamins and minerals are delivered intravenously it allows the vitamins to bypass the digestive system and they are delivered directly into your bloodstream resulting in quick absorption of the nutrients. This tailored therapy will treat your body needs while your body can absorb every little drop. Whether before a big wedding, to fight off a viral infection, or just in need of a recovery, IV vitamin therapy may be right for you!

Vitamin infusions can heal and assist in repairing damaged cells. Many people may benefit from vitamin infusions with treatments being spaced about 2 weeks apart. This is so that nutrient levels can be expected to remain elevated following each infusion.

Iron Infusion Clinic

Intravenous or IV means giving something directly into the blood stream of the body through a vein. A cannula placed into a vein (usually in the back of the hand or arm) is attached to a drip that contains iron. This fluid is slowly infused into the vein and mixes with the blood in your body.

Iron infusions are usually prescribed by doctors to treat iron deficiency anemia. Iron deficiency anemia is typically treated with dietary changes and iron supplements that you take in pill form. In some cases, though, doctors may recommend iron infusions instead.

Osteoporosis Infusion Clinic

Osteoporosis is treated with bisphosphonates which are medications designed to slow down bone loss as well as improve bone mass.

Infusion therapy is an alternative available for patients who have failed to receive relief from oral medications. Infusion therapy won’t upset your stomach which is a common side effect from oral medications used to treat osteoporosis.
